19 - Vehicle Inspection

The owner of a vehicle, or the person who has control over it on behalf of the owner, shall present the vehicle for inspection when requested by the police or the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The person shall also provide information about the vehicle when required.

The Ministry may, by regulation, establish rules for vehicle inspection under the first paragraph and impose fees. The Ministry may also establish rules regarding vehicle inspections on the road and criteria for selecting vehicles for such inspections. The regulations may include further rules about the required qualifications for inspectors, including personnel conducting company inspections under § 21, requirements for inspection equipment, and inspection fees.

The Ministry may, by regulation, establish rules requiring vehicle manufacturers and their points of contact to make technical information about vehicles available for use in vehicle inspections.
