26 - Practice Driving
Practice driving must not pose a danger or unnecessary inconvenience to other traffic. The police may, due to traffic conditions, prohibit or limit practice driving in specific locations and at specific times.
Practice driving with a motor vehicle may not take place earlier than 2 years before the time when the student, according to their age, can obtain the driving right for the relevant motor vehicle group. The Ministry may set stricter age requirements for practice driving for certain motor vehicle groups. If the practice driving is part of paid driving instruction, it may only occur when an approved learner's vehicle is used, and the student is accompanied in the vehicle by an approved instructor. In other cases, the student must be accompanied in the motor vehicle by a person who is at least 25 years old, holds a valid driver's license for the relevant motor vehicle group, and has held such a license uninterrupted for at least 5 years. The Ministry may, by regulation, waive the requirement for an approved instructor and an approved learner's vehicle (as stated in the third sentence) and set additional requirements for practice driving with certain motor vehicles.
Mandatory training in skid control can only be conducted on practice tracks that are specifically approved by the Road Traffic Directorate.
The Ministry may issue regulations on practice driving and may, under conditions, allow practice driving with certain motor vehicles or in certain areas without an instructor or companion being present in the vehicle.
In the case of practice driving, the instructor or companion is considered to be the driver of the motor vehicle. The provisions in or under Chapter II and ยงยง 21, 22, and 22 a) also apply to the student.
