7b - Bicycle Races on Roads Open to General Traffic

Bicycle races on roads that are fully or partially open to general traffic are prohibited without permission from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Before a decision is made, the police must provide their opinion.

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration may allow exceptions to §§ 4, 5, and 6 or regulations under these sections, if necessary and reasonable. They can also require a sign plan, traffic regulation, and private marshals.

The police will decide if private marshals can be used for each race.

The Ministry may issue regulations concerning the authority in the first and second paragraphs and the implementation of bicycle races, including sign plans and traffic regulation plans. It can also regulate the authority granted by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration under § 9 for temporary traffic regulation by private marshals, their uniforming, vehicle markings, and their qualifications.
